March 19, 2012 Day before Spring's Officially Here

The name of this one is:    "Flying Eagle Quilt".
This my eagle quilt that hangs on our wall.   You can't see very well how I accented the quilt with threads...it really shows up on the backside which is black.

Here is another favorite wall hanging quilt that I designed:
"The Light House".   This one was made our oldest son, Eric, and his family.
Again I used various threads to ascent the sky, the waves hitting the shore of rocks.   I used echo stitching around the stars.
I sew my binding on the back side first.  This allows me to use a deco stitch on the front side...which really adds character.

This "Forest" quilt was made for our young son, Sven and his wife, Frankie.  Given to them for their wedding anniversary a few years ago.   It was a king size quilt which I was able to put this on my long arm to finish the stitching design. l

This is the "Lone Star" Quilt for our second oldest son, Ian and his wife, Jenny.

This quilt I named "Garden Walk" because of all the flowers and colors of a Garden.   This quilt got adopted out to our daughter, Gretchen and her family.

As of today I can really say progress has been made on my two baby quilts...which both are being made from scratch. My own design but with the colors of the owners.    Although one is for a double bed for future use and the other size is about 42 by 50 inches.   I ran out of Rick Rack for the big quilt...and the local Walmart Store in our small town of 6,000 people...was out of the color (white) that I needed.   I couldn't be it...but I will be getting some tonight.
When I am done with the top, them the long arm sewing machine will be busy putting the final design of stitching on them.   Soon I hope, I will be able to post pictures of these two quilts.
Tomorrow, March 20th, is the first day of Spring.   I do believe our clocks and definitely our weather has sprung ahead to summer already with our temps of 70 to 80's in March.  So far for Iowa we have not much rain even though it has been in the forecast.  I know I am getting a fever for being outside doing some gardening with flowers.   With the weather being so warm, I am looking for more flowers to already be up and about.  But I am still looking...it looks more like weeds than start of flower stems....      Just today I have noticed more grass getting really greener and the trees are showing their waking up to Spring with new leaves and blossoms.
